For 25 years, I experienced severe spinal stenosis and knew I needed surgery, but I pushed it off because I was scared. Before resulting to surgery, I tried a few less invasive approaches like physical therapy and injections. While these approaches helped maintain me, it was not a permanent solution.

I was always able to walk but was prohibited from doing any vigorous activity, and it got to a point where traveling became an issue. I was always a robust and vibrant person and felt that my pain started changing me. About a year ago, I felt my back collapsing and was recommended to make an appointment with Dr. Sama. My first appointment with Dr. Sama was phenomenal, he was extremely prepared and more thorough than any doctor I have ever been to. I felt a huge wave of relief when Dr. Sama told me he could help me, I truly felt like I could cry and could not wait to get the surgery.

The entire surgery process was seamless, and HSS is an extremely well-oiled machine. Each staff member had a role, and everyone was very kind, considerate and knowledgeable. Only a couple months after surgery, I am back to doing everything as normal. Each day I feel stronger than the day before and have many goals that I plan to achieve in the next year. If there is anyone in the same position as me, I urge you to go and see Dr. Sama!
